hls video streaming - m3u access?

Hi, I’m creating a Python API using FastAPI and Dropbox SDK. I’m trying to get a streamable video link similar to what Dropbox uses in their player (https://previews.dropbox.com/p/hls_master_playlist/...), but Dropbox's files_get_temporary_link method refuses to stream video directly in the web browser (it triggers a download instead).

Is there a method in the Dropbox SDK or another way to stream video directly in a browser?

Error in call to API function "previews/get_preview_data_batch": Your app is not permitted to access this endpoint because it does not have the required scope 'private:files.metadata.read'. The owner of the app can enable the scope for the app using the Permissions tab on the App Console.

There is no option 'private:files.metadata.read' like this in console. There is 'files.content.read' which is already check, not only that all Individual Scopes option is checked. Question is how to enable 'private:files.metadata.read'? where can i find this?

Hi, I'm an engineer that works on Dropbox video previews. If you create a shared link to a file, you can access the raw video file for embedding by replacing the `&dl=0` in the shared link with `&raw=1`. See this demo link and previous discussion. Thanks for posting on the forum!

    Thanking you for your reply.

I have used this method long time ago. and this method come with a big limitation, after some request link become temperary unavailable due to dropbox basic plan limit.
''The bandwidth limit for Dropbox Basic is 20 GB per day. Dropbox Basic accounts can also download up to 100,000 files per day.''

This is annoying. I want to somthing like m3u8 file as dropbox use in there player (I have seen in network tab).

    Thanking you again 😊

Minecraft Demon That URL and corresponding scope are not part of the public Dropbox API and so are not available for use by third party apps. I'll pass this along as a feature request for functionality like this on the public API, but I can't promise if or when that might be offered.

You can find all of the functionality currently available on the public API for use by third party apps in the public API documentation, and likewise in the Python SDK documentation.

For example, to create a shared link, such as for use with the technique Harry mentioned, you could call /2/sharing/create_shared_link_with_settings, which is available via the sharing_create_shared_link_with_settings method in the Python SDK.
