Team folder permissions

Hi,

I have a Team folder which has been created by the team admin. If a member of a team creates a folder under this team folder.

Who is the owner of this folder?

It appears if the user shares this folder they are no longer the owner.

I guess the question is. If you create a folder in a team folder are you the owner?

It appears when I do a request on

https://api.dropboxapi.com/2/sharing/list_folder_members

they aren't the owner

Thanks

Is the same above for a file as well if you upload a file any where in team folder. You are no longer the owner?

Hi Ashley, can you share some code and output to show the issue you're running in to? I want to make sure I understand your question and send along whatever feedback you have.

Anyway, team folders and their contents are owned by the team itself, as opposed to individual members.

Just to confirm. If I upload a file or create a folder under a "Team" folder you are no longer the owner of this file or folder?

Is there a way to find out who created the folder/file through the api?

It sounds like the question here may be similar to your other thread. If you upload a (normal, not shared) new file inside a team folder, it doesn't have an owner exactly. That is, it won't be individually listed in /sharing/list_folders. It's just an item inside the team folder that any other editor can modify.

You can use the FileMetadata returned by /files/get_metadata or /files/list_folder or /files/list_revisions to see who last modified the file though (i.e., in file.sharing_info.modified_by).
