Unsupported file error, I can't preview some images on my account

I have numerous photos I can’t view because they start with ._ (ex: ._inputFile_DanceFloor-27.jpg) that comes up as Sorry. photos can’t open this file because the format is currently unsupported or the file is corrupt. Only time I was able to view them was on initial transfer but nothing now. Hoping someone can explain how to view these for a close to 80 year old who doesn’t understand. Thanks for reading.

Are you sure they're actual photos? What is the file size on some of them? Usually, files that begin with . aren't the actual file and only hold metadata about the actual file. You would usually see another file with the same name, but without the . at the beginning. On a Mac these would be created when saving files to a non-Mac file system.
