Alias not working

In my Dropbox I have a folder called Scripts for my AppleScripts, and it contains an alias to Script Editor.app in my Mac's Utilities folder. Since the new secure version update (yesterday), the alias just gives an error:

Item “Script Editor” is used by macOS and can’t be opened.

Has the new update completely disabled Mac aliases? I'm disappointed if so.

It quite possibly has beeflin as they were never actually supported in the first place - the support for aliases/junctions etc. was removed long ago. Dropbox, by design, needs you to have the files inside of Dropbox and then alias/junction at the other location.

I'm having the same issue after the latest update. Any alias to an application doesn't seem to work. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's a built-in system app, app-store app, or 3rd party app. Anytime the application alias syncs it "breaks." Aliases to other items still function.

Aliases to applications work in iCloud Drive for what it's worth.

With the major caveat that I haven't gotten to test if it works across devices, at least on one device creating symlinks of applications and moving those into dropbox seems to function.
