Deleting also on local drive

I have pictures on my dropbox. When I then copy them to my photo directory on the computer and delete them from dropbox, it also deletes the reference and the images can therefore not be found or used.

Hey Botterne, thanks for reaching out to the Dropbox Community.

I'm not exactly clear on what you mean by "deleting the reference"; can you please clarify?

Any additional info would be really helpful as well.

    Thanks in advance!

The file was first in my dropbox folder. Then I make a copy to ex. my desktop, and delete the file in dropbox. When I then try to open the file on my desktop, it says the location/direction is not exists

I see, thanks for the clarification, Botterne.

Before you copied the file to your desktop, do you remember if it was set to "online-only" (cloud icon) or to "available offline" (green checkmark)?

If it was set to online-only, try to make it available offline first, by right-clicking and choosing that option and then try to copy it again and let me know how it goes.
