Deleting files in Dropbox folder & desktop
I have a Basic Dropbox account that I use occasionally to send video files (usually <1 GB) to friends & fam. No other users, as in shared accounts where multiple members can work on a joint project. b/c I am limited to 2 GB, I must occasionally remove a large file to load another, but "deleting" within Dropbox can be confusing. I want to remove a file from the cloud & substitute another, but depending upon how my account is set up, or how I delete, I see words like "delete from all connected devices", sounding like the Dropbox action reaches into my desktop computer to delete the original file that I want to maintain. Syncing seems to be part of it, but I cannot get any "sync icons" to appear next to my files, like "Available Offline".
I simply want to load files into the Dropbox cloud, send a link to folks & then remove it a week or so later w/o deleting the original on my desktop.
Or, alternatively, is Dropbox too big of a "cannon" for my "pea shooter" needs? Recommendations?

Hi ElderUser, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
When you see that message, it basically means that it'll delete that copy of the file from all Dropbox folders on any device, including the site.
It doesn't mean it'll find the file with the same name and delete it from anywhere else on your computer.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.
