Desktop files disappear

My files on my Desktop (mac) continue to move into my dropbox in my finder (not online, available locally). I have to physically move all the files back out onto my desktop every times files sync. How do I set this up such that my desktop files stay on my desktop and are still backed up on dropbox?

Hey there vulpinevegan - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

When you say your Desktop's files are moved to your Dropbox in your Finder, could you send us a screenshot so that we can have a  look too?

Also, what is your device's exact OS version and the status and version of the Dropbox desktop app installed there as shown in your menu bar

When you navigate your backups page online do you see the beta tag in the upper right corner of your screen by the way?

Any additional information is more than welcome!
