Files disappearing from my Dropbox folder after moving files in it

Hello.  

 

In a slight panic as I'm watching files disappear and have no idea what is happening or how to stop it. 

 

I have a new laptop, so I moved everything from my desktop to my Dropbox folder in order to secure my files.  This stuff seems to still be there.  But as I went to look at some older files (photos), the files disappeared in front of my eyes.  The folder had +20 images and then suddenly only 4.  I opened another folder and the same.  I'm afraid to open anything else...

 

HELP!

    Did you give them time to upload? 

     

    What is www.dropbox.com/events showing?

    What does Dropbox say if you mouse over its icon on the status bar of the desktop?
