Multiple notifications on desktop app asking me if I want to delete files
Last week my main PC W10, named "Qanto", went crazy making it impossible to use.
I was building a new PC. Again W10.
In an urgent move, I started to configure it as the New Main PC. Name "TwenyFour" or T24 for friends :-D.
While I was here, being forced to access many useful settings stored in "PC/settings BKP" under Dropbox, I also looked around on the PC folder where many Install.Dirs are also hosted.
I used this BKP technique on an SD stick for many years, but having Dropbox maintaining that storage updated is much better.

Perusing all Dropbox Folders to manage software, and much more ... I've found a lot of old parts saved there not usable anymore.
That's a good opportunity to make some order and do some cleaning.
Every time I reboot the T24, the notification "do you want to delete XYZ?" appears and asks for an Ok, I give "OK", then another appears, etc, etc, etc may be twenty times :-( ...
I've read another 6-year-old thread where reasons were explained, but I found it quite intrusive to insert that ... and stupid not being present in the "notification options setting".
No solution appeared so far in that thread,
and a search on the forum did not give me interesting results.
ANY HELP to block those things?
(It never appeared on my old device, it's still not appearing on the W11 laptop )
6 years .. Thread reference:

Hey Alain Church, thanks so much for the screenshots!
So, just to sum it up here: in the first couple of screenshots it seems you're deleting the folder "Screen Clip" and then when you reboot, you get the second screen with the delete message. Are those files related to the "Screen Clip" folder by any chance?
Do you reboot the device, or the app? If so, how do you reboot it?
Also can you try uninstalling the app, and then reinstalling it to see if the behavior remains the same after that?

So far everything is OK pn T24 PC.
Re-install was the correct solution...
...no idea about what went wrong on the previous install!
🙄

Hi Alain Church!
I'm glad things improved, and that you got the "Don't ask me again" prompt there.
I appreciate your updates on this, since they're going to help us and the users reading the thread get a full picture of the case. 😇
Definitely keep an eye on it, and let us know of anything else pops up. If you need something else, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help every step of the way.

Here we go:
UP DA TE ☂ ☁ (˚ㄥ˚)>>>After turning on my PC
I discovered my T24 Dropbox was not correctly syncing this morning.
Looking from my Cell the Camera Upload >the Black image was already in .......but not on PC T24 Folder!
And the App down on the corner was saying Syncing 2 files... so I added a little more, it didn't perceived itAfter that I killed Dropbox and restarted it ... now the files waiting to be synced were 4...
... but kept waiting something.
Maybe that was the reason to use 6-8% of the <CPU>Having promised to Uninstall>Reinstall, I proceeded immediatly
.... and BIG SURPRISE... some existing files on my PC .. that before reinstall were not visible...
as a miracle, they appeared and could be seen NOW!> Look at those NEF files < they seem to be added after the Black image, but no.... they were already there ... no comments
I deleted the uninteresting ones .. and LO .... It asked me with the same already-seen notification 🙄
BUT NOW THE "don't ask me again" IS AVAILABLE !! 😂Maybe the previous installs were crippled ... no idea...
But for sure, the NEF pictures had already been moved to the appropriate Dropbox folders.
As proof, I've got this warning ! >> exceptional ÖIt seems we are on the right path so far:
> discovered a crippled install of Dropbox
That could explain all the strange things it was doing.
Let's see if we get Absurd messages again in the next few days.
I will come back and report on how it's doing, and mark it as a solution!!
Thanks a lot for your support.
(Write if you want to do more tests - No problem to do them )

Here goes the running situation... with Dropbox using around 6-9% CPU Time.

Hehehe !! You are trying me hard, asking difficult questions.
I'm sorry for you 😇 ...
[ all my systems are under MY OWN full control 😂]
I mean ... 3rd party ...
Startup's, .Bat file executions, Registry, and TaskScheduled are listed below
😂( excluding Windows software - but I can also have that if needed )

Thanks for the additional information Alain Church
Can you also clarify something for me please? Are you storing your app folders in Dropbox and/or are you running any 3rd party apps when you boot your computer and/or the Dropbox desktop app?

A) Yes. In the first stint, I deleted the folder you named.
The.NEF file notified is a raw image from a Nikon photo that was first in the "camera upload" and then moved to the main folder "Camera", which is five up from the opened folder "PC." no idea when I may have deleted it.
Usually, I delete the files after bulk-renaming them in "C. Upl." and only then moving them to the designated folder. I open the destination folder and rate all the images to have a value choice, before PostProcessing some of them only. OOF pics are deleted in a couple = xxxz.NEF + xxxz.JPG.B) When I mention "Reboot" I mean turn OFF and turn ON the main hardware.
Otherwise, I would say "restart" the program, or in case, "Uninstall and reinstall"
C) Dropbox has already been reinstalled twice, due to an issue while installing MS WebView2.dll for image &text preview in File Explorer.
No problem if I have to reinstall it once again. It will take 15 minutes, and I will do it tomorrow. ( it's now 01:30 :-) )
( That happens to demonstrate when Microsoft is able to produce a failure with its own software ) - Megan31 days ago

Oh, yes.
The notifications appears sround 17-22 seconds after the last startup program has been launched.
( No idea why )
