My account has disappeared

Hi, my complete account and all my files seem to have disappeared – please could someone help.

    Hey there theportcreative, sorry to hear about this.

     

    When you say your account disappeared, can you clarify if you're getting an error upon logging into the account or if you're just missing your files?

     

    If you've ensured that you logged into the correct account, could you have a look at your events page and let us know what you find?

    No error message. Everything had gone this morning – as if my whole account has been deleted

    Is it possible that you logged into another Dropbox of yours, associated with a different email address, Andy?

     

    How long has it been since you last accessed the account in question?

    Nope, checked that and my login details. I've been using my Dropbox account regularly especially over the last couple of months – currently in the middle of a large project where several people are sharing folders. When I went to access my account yesterday I was asked for my password – once into account everything had gone. I've had no prior correspondence from Dropbox to alert me that anything was about to be deleted or if there was anything awry with my account.

    Contacting Dropbox support right away is advised if your Dropbox account and files have vanished. For assistance in submitting a support ticket or locating the right contact information to address the issue, go to the Dropbox Help Centre.

    Hi theportcreative, it is a bit strange that your events page shows no deletions, because even if the files had been deleted, you should be able to see it there. 

     

    Have you also checked your deleted files page, and sharing tab since you mentioned you're working with shared content?

    Hi Megan,

     

    it's all so very strange! However, Dropbox support are on the case and after some investigation it turns out I inadvertently joined a business group – I was unaware of doing so and at no stage did I receive any notification of this – the admin of the business group has since deleted my account. I think we have now located that admin and I've been informed that my account should be reinstated. Hope so!
