My files are missing
Hello,
I had excel files that were saved on the "all files" tab on Dropbox.
Something happened today with Dropbox without my permission or approval that deleted my excel files.
These ecel files are no where to be found. Not in deleted files or on the events page. I need help.
Thank you,
janeen

Dropbox can only do what its told - so something has deleted those files.
If they arent in www.dropbox.com/events were they a Share by any chance? www.dropbox.com/share - can you rejoin?

So today At 12:10 I got like 10 emails saying "Dropbox created a group" and i was added to certain files inside of "shared files" (we have never used shared files before). We only have 3 users including myself. I spoke to both of the other users and they haven't touched dropbox today.
The excel files i'm looking for have been on the "all files" tab for over a year now with no problems. Whatever dropbox did today caused those excel file to disappear into thin air. I tried going to the excel application on my computer to try to restore an older version but because the path is corrupted/ deleted I can even open the older version files.

Hi janeen, are the files missing on your account? Do they appear on the deleted files page?

Hi Jay,
Yes they are missing from my account.
They are not on the deleted files page and No where on the events page either.
I never had to have these excel files in a folder.
The excel files use to show up here:

Hey janeen, if you do a search for them in your account on dropbox.com, do they show up?

Hi Hannah,
I used the search bar on dropbox.com and the files are nowhere to be found. This is extremely frustrating. Can you escalate me to your IT department or something? The files lost are extremely important and at least a years worth of data.
Thank you,
J

As you mentioned that you're part of a Dropbox Business team, you can contact our support team directly for them to investigate this in more detail.

I had an issue Emailing the team. It wanted me to copy and paste the "link" in order to submit my request and the i followed the instructions and I keep getting an error message saying the link i'm copying is no good. Which makes no sense at all. How am I supposed to get a link for a file that is missing and vanished? I tried getting any link even to a file that IS there and it still gave me an error.
I really need to talk to a human being. Can you assist with that?
Thank you,
J
