Re: Give us better tools to organize our folders.
Well for starters the sort experience is not very intuitive. Give me a button or icon that says or looks like a sort icon similar to other programs. I didn't know I could click on that little arrow until I did by mistake. Most programs say for example oldest to newest, newest to oldest, etc. Maybe y'all are trying to save screen real estate but there's got to be a better way to do it than this. Maybe a drop-down menu instead of listing them all on the screen at one time. As far as the options go they're lacking. I would expect a date created option in addition to the date modified option. I would also expect a kind option so that I can organize by folders, files, pictures, etc. I'm sure there are other options this is just what my immediate needs are. The other issue at least on my app is that when I choose to reorganize the list using the little arrow icon the list is not actually reorganized. All it does is either start me at the top or push me down to the bottom. To me that is completely useless. If I choose to reorganize my list, I would expect it to reorganize top down. For example if I go to AutoTrader and I want to look at vehicles and after applying filters I choose to view them least expensive to most expensive then that's what my list would show. The least expensive vehicle would be first and the most expensive would be last. If I change the order to most expensive to least expensive then the most expensive vehicle would be first and the least expensive would be last. Maybe my app has an issue or glitch but it does not work like that currently. I'm sure everyone uses their Dropbox differently but I use it like what I would use any folder system on a Mac or a pc. I try to keep it as organized as possible so I can find things quickly. For me the homepage is stupid. The only thing remotely useful to me is being able to view the folders and documents that I have shared or marked as favorites.
Aside from this subject I have had other issues in the past related to camera uploads and quality of the pictures and videos. I've been automatically uploading my pictures for years and when I finally went to go back and look at one the quality was significantly reduced. The tech tried to tell me that it was just the file stored on my actual device and not in the cloud. So I download the file from dropbox and compared it to the original and it was still the same poor quality like it had been reduced upon uploading. Maybe to save space or something. Something else to mention about photos is I typically go to the camera uploads folder to view the photos. But if I actually click on the photos icon at the bottom of the Dropbox app it does not show me the same photos. This is confusing to me as I don't understand what it chooses to show me and the order that it puts it in. Is this searching my entire drop box account for any and all photos and just dumping them in to this photos tab? And how does it choose to organize them? It appears that it's just random.
Maybe I'm asking a lot but when paying for a cloud-based files storage service I expect it to be intuitive, robust, and not require me to make suggestions for options on how to organize. Seems y'all should be way ahead of the game. Especially since there are many many many other programs that have better organization options than Dropbox that you guys could just copy.
