Restoring files on my account, do I have a backup?
Here is what happened. My laptop crashed and I had to have the drive wipe clean and operating system reinstalled. I lost all my files. I had backups on DropBox. From DropBox I understood I had only 30 days to download the files and it seems to be taking me a long time. Then I found there is something called the Desktop App from Dropbox, I installed. I don't know what advatage the app has. I am a newcomer to DropBox and have not tried to use it before, just hoping it was backing up my files. I am confused by the 30 day limit as I thought my files should remain avalable on DropBox cloud as long as I have the account. As I understand now I can go to DropBox any time and those files that were backed up from my laptop before it crash will be accessable.
Questions
1 Can I extend the thirty day limit?
2 Why is there a 30 day limit if those backed up files are always there as long as I have my account?
3 Does DropBox Deaktop app offer me some advantage?

Hi ricerazabu, thanks for messaging the Community.
The 30 day limit to recover files is only if the files have been deleted from Dropbox, and those files would be visible here.
Any files located on the main homepage aren't subject to the 30 day deletion. Installing the Dropbox desktop application would allow those files to automatically sync down to your computer.
Do you know if you have a computer backup on the site?
