whole folder missing
I had a complete file of all my lessons, as a teacher. I worked on them on Monday, went yesterday and they were gone. Came home from school and they are still gone. It is like whole folders are missing.

Hey s970065, sorry to hear about your missing folders.
Do you see any signs of them in your deleted files page or the events page perhaps?
If not, could it be that you are looking at another account?
In any case, keep us posted!

Walter,
Here is the background. I had a file called Momence. In this file was where my folder for all my lesson plans and sub plans were. Inside was also a file called Momence 2. This, when clicked, took me to a similar version of Momence, but missing several folders, like my lesson plans.
It all worked on Monday evening when I did my lessons plans. I did not print them from home, due to no ink. So I usually open up Dropbox at school and print from that. I went to do that in the morning, and I had lost the Momence and only had Momence2 file.
I waiting until I got home, to see if it "worked" on my personal computer. But it was the same problem. All Momence was gone and only Momence2 was there, missing all my lesson plans.
I looked at "deleted" files and only saw one of the lesson plans I had deleted about a week ago, nothing current. Because I thought the same thing...maybe somehow it got deleted.
I have been very good about deleting things to keep my drop box from being too full. Have gotten all those messages that it was getting full. So I had deleted a bunch of things in July and August, and then when I do a current lesson, delete the one from the previous year before saving the new one. That way I keep the drop box from filling up.
Would truly love to be able to recover all of what I lost.

Hey s970065, thanks for the additional info and sorry to jump in.
It sounds strange that the parent folder is missing, but you can access the subfolder of that folder.
If you go to your events page, do you see any events relating to those files?
Was the "Momence" folder a shared folder or a non-shared one?
And how are you generally accessing and working on your files? Through our website or the Dropbox desktop app (local Dropbox folder)?
- s9700652 years agoExplorer | Level 3It was the main file. It was not shared with anyone. Nothing is seen anywhere. Now I have to recreate a template then I can begin to plan my lessons for last week. I can't believe that it isn't somewhere in the Dropbox Cloud.
Sherri - s9700652 years agoExplorer | Level 3I have Dropbox on my laptop. That is where I do almost all my work. Then when at school, I go online and access Dropbox.
I hope I can get that original folder back somehow.

If you were able to access everything online, when using the school computer, then they must be somewhere.
Have you searched for any example file names through the search bar at the top of the all files page?
- s9700652 years agoExplorer | Level 3Hannah,
I have and there is nothing. I was hoping they might still be in the Drop box cloud.

Hi s970065, if you're not seeing the files on the events page or the deleted files page, then there's a few possibilities as to why this might be the case:
- The files are on another Dropbox account
- They were on a shared folder you don't have access to any more
- The files were deleted outside of the 30 day period
- The files were permanently deleted
Could you doublecheck to ensure that you've looked into all the possibilities above?

I could only find one file that I had deleted about 2 weeks ago.
Strange, I cannot save it anywhere else than to Dropbox. I wanted to save it to my computer so I have a backup, but it won't let me now. I used to be able to save it to a flash drive as well.

Could you clarify what you mean? Are you not able to save a file to anywhere else other than Dropbox? Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!
