Can you see when someone is accessing a folder through a shared link?
Hi,
I wonder if it is possible by a new member, having received a shared link link to a folder/subfolder, to log-in to DropBox without providing any visible information that the member has logged in and getting access to the shared information.
My preassumption is that this is not possible - you will see a new member being added as a named icon. Is this wrong or right?
Thanks for any clarification.
Cheers,

Hi AndyFah , welcome to the Dropbox Community! I’m really glad to hear that your question has been cleared up 🤗.
I’m Theresa, one of the Community Managers around these parts. You’ll often find me popping into threads or starting new chats across different topics in the forum.
Out of curiosity – do you have a favorite Dropbox feature? I always love hearing what folks find most useful or clever ways Dropbox fits into their day-to-day!
Looking forward to hearing more from you,

Hey AndyFah! Happy to help! Just to make it a bit more specific, though, the viewer info will show up when the recipients open the files in the folders, so the avatars will show within the files.
And hi yesnobutton! You can of course disable viewer info for individual files or your entire account.
The steps can be found in the article I hyperlinked in my previous reply, but here it is again, for your convenience.
I hope this helps!

Thanks for the discussion! AndyFah, I understand that with a shared folder link, the viewer’s avatar shows up when they access it, as you confirmed. Hannah, thanks for pointing to the viewer info details! I’m on the Plus plan—can I disable viewer info for shared links to keep access anonymous, or is that only available on higher plans? Appreciate any insights!

Thanks for the information provided.
It answers my question - that is, the member's avatar becomes visible when a member has logged in via a shared link to view a folder/subfolder

Hey AndyFah, thanks for posting your question!
Indeed, when you send a shared link to a file, you have access to certain info.
You can read more about what info you can access, depending on your plan, and a lot more on viewer info here.
Let me know if you have any questions about this.
Thanks!
