Files on Dropbox online aren't syncing to my new MacBook Air.

Hi, Files from my Dropbox on the Web are not syncing to my New Mackbook Air.

I believe I have gone through all of the help and done everything I think.

That said, I'm wondering if my web dropbox account is linked to my new MacBook air and that maybe that's the problem.

I could really use some help.

Thanks!

Hi Walter, I have Dropbox Basic and so there is no support included in my plan, which is why I've been asking if I can pay for a support call so that I can get everything working correctly.

So, on the screenshot below, it says that new files are saved online only.
I want to change this to Available Offline, however it won't let me make any changes.
(Once we get this resolved, I'll see if I can figure out how to show screenshots for my other issue.)

Thanks for the clarification and the screenshot too marioinmehrer - much appreciated.

When you say it won't let you make any changes, are you getting a specific error or is it just not responding?

Did you install the app with admin privileges in the first place? Also, can you confirm that you've granted Dropbox full disk access as outlined in this Help Center article?

Nancy, it's just too complicated for me to take a bunch of screenshots and then write everything out. I've already spent about 15 hours trying to get things to work.

I can tell you 2 things:
    1. New files are only being saved on Dropbox on the web and I couldn't change my selection (I'm not even sure where I found that now).

    2. When I save files to Dropbox on my desktop/laptop they are not saving to Dropbox on the web.

So, is there truly no way to get live support, even though I'm willing to pay for it?
    - I've had dropbox for a very long time and this is the first time I've ever had any issues.
    - I feel like a person on a deserted island, all alone.

HI from me too marioinmehrer and sorry to hear you're still having issues with syncing.

You should be able to see your available support options on this page, based on the plan you're on at the moment.

As for the issue at hand, a screenshot of what you see and the app's exact status and version as shown in your menu bar would be very helpful.

      Keep us posted!

    Megan,

Another issue that I didn't have earlier today. All my files on Dropbox on my Mac show like a cloud with an embedded down arrow.

I don't know what's going on, I do know that I want all of my Dropbox Files on my Laptop.

How can I pay for a tech support call so that I can get this resolved?
    - If Dropbox isn't able to provide tech support, is there an online vendor that you can recommend?

    Thanks.

marioinmehrer, sorry for jumping in. Can you send me a few screenshots of what you see exactly on your end? It always helps to have a visual, so that we can guide you better.

Thanks and let me know when you're ready!

    Hi Megan,

So, I finally have everything syncing properly; that said, somehow, the default sync state for new files is set to online ONLY & that's not the preference that I want.

    Remaining Issues:
    1. The web Dropbox app is not letting me change the option to "Available Offline."
    How can I change it?

    2. Somewhere, it told me that not all of my files are selected to sync (I believe on my MacBook). However, all of the folders are checked.
    - What do I do to resolve this, please?

It's quite amazing the amount of time it has taken me to figure this all out & I consider myself tech-savvy.  LOL

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hey marioinmehrer, you can definitely try signing out of your account locally on the app, and then sign in again.

If this doesn't work, I'd also suggest uninstalling, then reinstalling the app using these steps.

In any case, I'll be waiting for your updates!

Hey marioinmehrer, thanks for posting here today!

Would you mind clarifying the app's current syncing status, along with the version you're using on your MacBook?

You can find this by locating your Dropbox icon next to your WiFi, on your menu bar and hovering your mouse over it. When did this first start happening?

    Keep me posted!

      Hi Megan,

I have a brand new MacBook Air (with a M3 chip) running Sequoia 15.2.

I saw somewhere that it says that the files are up to date, however there are 3 files on the dropbox web that are not on my dropbox files on my laptop and 1 dropbox file on my laptop that is not on the dropbox web.

I don't think that when I did the transfer from my old macbook air to my new one that the sync got set up properly.
      - I did read something about unlinking and re-linking my new computer, would that be a good idea and if so, it would be awesome if you could give me the instructions.

      Thanks so much!

Hi, how can I get help to resolve my issue that my dropbox files are not syncing with the web. Is it possible to pay for one tech support call?
