If selective sync is enabled on a device, new files/folders should be opt-in and excluded by default
This is something that has bugged me for a while. Another forum post touched on this in the past, but this really needs to be addressed.
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/View-download-and-export/Stop-Selective-Sync-from-automatically-adding-new-files-folders/td-p/572302
Background, I have Dropbox installed on a number of computers and other devices. My main PC, I have everything synced, online only. Another PC for light use, selective sync including only a couple of shared folders. A work PC with selective sync with other shared folders. And my NAS syncing for backups. I created a new folder on root and moved some files into it from my main PC and it synced up. When I checked my work laptop, that folder and all the files were all downloaded and synced.
This should not ever happen. From what I gathered from that other post, a folder in the hierarchy of folders was updated, so it downloaded it automatically. This is the root folder, I should not have to worry about new files/folders from being synced where I never asked for it. New synced folders should be opt-in. I've been running some personal backups and the last thing I would ever want is to have my work PC to attempt to download them, if I put them in a new folder, I should not have to think twice about that.
Please make this a priority.
