My files aren't syncing from my home device to my office computer.

I added some files to Dropbox from my home PC expecting to be able to use them on my office PC. When I get to my office no such files are available so checked Dropbox and found the message "Updating 441 files, 147.2 GB (2+ days)". Are you kidding me???

Is there any way to specify which files I want to update and which can go away? Am I doing something wrong or is Dropbox simply not very good?

Welcome aboard the Community, Jechelman. Let’s take a look.

First off, are you able to see your files on www.dropbox.com

When saying the Dropbox app is updating 441 files, are you seeing this at your office computer or your home device? Has there been any progress to the number of files syncing so far?

Other than that, you can prioritize which files you want to sync next with these steps (if I’ve misunderstood your question though, let me know).

      Thanks Nancy!

Yes I see the files on dropbox.com. I have mainly been using OneDrive but thought I should give Dropbox another try but was unaware of dropbox.com.

The 441 file number is now down to 435. Can I stop the files from being synced without purging the originals or select only the ones I want to be synced? Probably don't need many of them.  I'll check out how to prioritizes them. Already feeling a little better about Dropbox. I was about ready to write it off and go back to OneDrive but now I have hope it will work for me.

      Thanks...Frank/aka jechelman

Thanks for the extra info too, Frank! To prevent some of the files from syncing to your office device, you can perhaps use selective sync on it (if these files are located in a folder). Selective sync will remove the files from this specific computer, but they will still be visible on www.dropbox.com

Syncing your updates may still take a bit of time though, also depending on the internet connection you have.

Other than that, you’d need to pause the app’s syncing altogether, but then nothing will sync from your online account to the app or vice versa.
