Trying to understand "online only" mode on my Mac desktop app
I have a Dropbox Plus acount. I am trying to figure out the Dropbox "online only" feature on my MAC to save space on my hard drive. Here is a screen shot. Does this mean files are in my Dropbox account in "online only" mode? So, they are not taking up space on my hard drive? Thx for your wisdom.
Also, for some reason, my iPhone version of Dropbox shows that the last item added was November 2023. Is there a way to reset my iPhone so that it is the same as my files in Dropbox?

Hey admakr! Thanks for posting on our forum.
To clarify, have you set the entire folder to be online-only, or select files within the folder instead? Feel free to send me one more screenshot of the syncing icons showing next to your files, if you wish.
What’s the current syncing status of your Dropbox app?
As for your iPhone, can you also check www.dropbox.com and make sure everything is up to date there?
Keep me posted for any updates.

Thanks, Nancy. In Finder [on my MAC, the folder looks like this [attached image]. I believe the cloud icon next to the folder indicates it is "online only," right? For whatever reason, the Dropbox icon in the top right menubar of my MAC does not appear to be up-to-date, however.

Thanks for that! From your screenshot, it looks like you’re seeing this syncing icon. Since your Dropbox folder is under Locations, it seems that you’re currently running the Dropbox app on File Provider.
Can you clarify what you see as the app’s syncing status though?

Thx again, Nancy-
This screen shot is from the tiny DropBox icon in the top menu bar. It shows "Indexing
however, the files are not up to date based on what was worked on in DropBox. And, I do not believe I have seen any other mode than "indexing" - Hannah2 years ago

Hey admakr, I hope you don't mind me jumping in here as well.
If the Dropbox app is indexing, it might be that it was only recently updated to the Dropbox for macOS on File Provider version, is that right?
How long has it been since it's been indexing?
Have you restarted your computer at all, to see if that helps?

Hi, Hannah- Indexing is all that I ever see. To my knowledge, I do not think I did any updates to the last Dropbox that was installed on my MacBook Pro. After restarting, all is the same.

Thanks for the additional info, admakr.
If you simply hover (without clicking) your mouse over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, what do you see?

Hi again, admakr. From what I can see, you’re running the alpha version of the Dropbox app (203.2.2468), which is experimental.
Can you switch off early releases from this page, and then download the latest stable version instead (201.4.5552) from this link?
I’d like to see if this fixes the issue.

if I switch from the Alpha version, will that affect "online only" or other dropbox files that are currently visible on my Mac Desktop?
