Dropbox erroneously tells me I'm running out of space

I have a free Dropbox account and I received an email saying:

Notice: Your files are about to stop syncing

There's limited space available in your Dropbox. Even adding just one more file might stop your account from syncing and being able to access them when you need to.

and when I log into my account I also get the popup message:

Welcome back, [name] We noticed that your subscription has ended. Resubscribe now to not miss out on advanced productivity features and 2000 GB or more of space.

This is because I have around 3GB worth of files in my account and the standard free account has 2GB storage only. The trouble is my account is free but actually has 6GB of storage (2GB standard plus 4GB promotional for life as a reward for early actions I've taken when Dropbox was launched). So I believe this is a mistake triggered by some automatic algorithm that is not recognising my entitlement to more space. In fact, when I log in, my account shows 6GB as a maximum threshold for my storage.

I tried contacting support, but there is no human chat available on the free plan. I believe this needs to be resolved because I am entitled to those free 6GB. How could I resolve this?

Maybe you had registered for a free trial in the past for another Dropbox plan Alessandro R.5?

OK. If I did get close to the quota, I did not realise it.

What about the message saying "your subscription has ended" that I mentioned in my first message? Why do I see that? I've always been a free member.

Is it possible that you were close to your account's quota limit then Alessandro R.5? It would seem normal to get this  kind of email notification if you were near to 6 GB.

Based on your account's plan tab and the quota shown there at the moment, you shouldn't get this notification, so let me know if you receive it again.

Hey Alessandro R.5 - thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Can you please clarify when did you get this email and also send us a screenshot of your account's plan tab?

    Thanks so much!
