Issue after downgrade — Dropbox still shows old quota usage and I can't sync files

Hi everyone,

I recently downgraded my Dropbox account from a paid plan (where I had 125 GB of storage) to the free Basic plan. Before downgrading, I cleaned up my files and reduced my usage to around 1 GB to stay well under the free plan limit.

However, my account still shows that I'm using 125 GB, and Dropbox keeps telling me that I'm over my storage quota. Because of this, I’m unable to sync or update any files.

It seems like the downgrade or storage calculation hasn’t updated correctly on my account. I can’t contact Dropbox support directly anymore since I’m now on the free plan, so I’m hoping someone here can help reset or refresh the storage allocation on my account.

Could a Dropbox team member please take a look at this?

Hi lindberghansen, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Is it possible that you have any shared folders on your account, or any storage being used up in Dropbox Backup?

Could you attach a screenshot of your sync and storage dashboard in the Dropbox desktop application in order to determine where the quota is being used up?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hi lindberghansen,

    Thanks for reaching out!

As well as Jay's questions could you let me know if you did all of this via the website, desktop app or mobile app?

I just want to make sure we troubleshoot every scenario!
