Moving the Dropbox folder to external SSD on Mac

I'm getting can't create a folder in the requested location message. Dropbox folder is 30gb so hoping moving it will help system performance imac 4k 21.5", 2017

Which version of OSx are you using?

 

If you are using the new cloud storage locations you cannot do this - it is no longer supported.
