2 Dropbox Backup on 1 Computer; reinstalling dropbox
Our experience with updating Dropbox to MacOS Ventura has been horrible.
In this case, the transfer failed part way through, the verification of files did not take place, and we now have 2 dropbox backups. So several questions.
- One backup is named "My Mac...." while the other is named "Mac (2)." How do I get rid of Mac (2) without losing data?
- How do I then verify that all the files correctly transferred to their new dropbox folder location?
- Should I reinstall the dropbox app entirely, and how do I do so without losing data?
Thanks ahead of time for your help with this.

Hi delilahwild, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you clarify which backup is the active one for your device?
What error did you get when the files didn't transfer to the new location?
This will help me to assist further!

Hello Jay,
Thank you for your reply.
I thoughtlessly did not take a screenshot of the error message. Something to the effect of the dropbox encountered a problem.
Clicking on the dropbox icon in the menubar > Sync and Backups, I see the Mac (2) is currently active.

Hey delilahwild, sorry to jump in here and thanks for the additional information.
Could you please have a look at your backups page and let me know what you see there?
Are both of the backups you mentioned shown there?

Hello Walter,
Yes.
Dropbox icon on the menu bar > Access settings.... > Preferences > Backups > Manage backups > Dropbox Backups
2 backups are shown in the left column.
The first is "Mac (2)".
The second is "My Mac...".
Selecting Mac (2), the right column shows a set of options, such as View Content and Restore buttons, Manage backups, Recover files, and Adjust settings.
Selecting My Mac..., the right column only shows the View Content and Restore buttons.

From this info, it seems like the 'My Mac' backup might be the older one.
Just for clarification, do you still want keep the Dropbox Backup feature enabled?
