Can I sync between an M1 Mac and an Intel Mac?

Hi-

I'm thinking of upgrading my plan but I'm running dropbox on an M1 and an older Intel-Macbook. Once I move to file vault on the M1 is that going to break anything with the older MacBook? I don't think it should but couldn't find that explicitly answered anywhere. Thanks!
