Can't find my content on my new Mac.
I recently got a new Macbook. On my old machine I had Dropbox plus destop app. I inadvertently downloaded Dropbox basic on my new machine. Now when I try to connect my plus account to a Desktop app I...

Hi Nancy, this is what I am seeing. The box in the middle shows my basic. My plus is in the background.

2 years agoThanks for that! Now, it looks like there’s no Dropbox icon in your menu bar (at the top, close to your clock settings).
What I want you to do is open your Finder again, go to Applications, and double click on the Dropbox app from there. Does the Dropbox icon appear in your menu bar after a few seconds?
If yes, I’d like you to go to the app preferences and try to log out of your current Dropbox account, and then sign back in with the credentials of your Plus subscription.
Let me know if that works.

Hi again! Logging out of basic and then into my plus account works fine. My problem is the following. Suppose I wish to save an article from the internet on my Dropbox. The machine asks me where I want to to save it, Dropbox is one of the options. I go for that. It automatically puts in my basic, not my plus. The Dropbox destop app also always seems to be linked to my basic account and I cannot go from it to my plus. I want my stuff on my plus account! I am sure I am guilty of some silly ignorance here but knowing that does not help.

Hey Eyfi, the app automatically connects and downloads content to your Basic one, because you are connected with your Basic account there.
Your Dropbox app can only be connected to one Dropbox account at a time, unless you're talking about an individual plan and a Business one.
Now, you have two individual plans: Basic, & Plus, which means that if your app is connected to your Basic account, you'd need to follow the steps we've mentioned above, in order to sign out from the Basic and into the Plus one on the app.
Once you do that, the app will create a Dropbox folder of your Plus account locally, that you can then use in order to add content there.
On the screenshot you provided it seems that on the background is your account online and the folders in front of it is your account locally in the app.
If you have any trouble signing out of your Basic account on the desktop app not online using these steps, let me know and I'll be happy to guide you.
