Can't open Dropbox on my desktop from the Dropbox icon

I'm using Windows 10. I can't open the icon on my computer. I downloaded the software on the web site and it still did not work. I had no trouble earlier today. I'm thinking of doing a system restore to yesterday 1/12/24. Do you have any other suggestions? BTW I can open dropbox on my smartphone and see all the files that don't show up on desktop.

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with the desktop app, Ralph113.

Which icon are you not able to open Dropbox from? The one in your system tray?

Is the Dropbox icon in your system tray visible? What do you see when you hover over it with your mouse?

And have you restarted the PC ever since the issue started?

Let me know and we'll go from there.

      Hello Hannah,

To answer your question, I wasn't able to open in the sys.tray nor the icon on my desktop.

When I hover above the icon in the system tray it says "dropbox up to date"

The dropbox on my smartphone works just fine and I have all my files there. What I eventually did as a workaround was to email myself from the smartphone a link of the missing files so I could add to my computer desktop.

Please advise if you have any further suggestions.

      Thank you

Hi Ralph113, you should be able to doubleclick the Dropbox icon in the system tray to open the Dropbox folder.

Otherwise, try Ctrl+Click to see the various options there, such as opening the Dropbox folder.
