Dropbox for MacOS is now ready
I've got Dropbox installed on an M1 MacBook. After upgrading to Ventura 13.0 it brings up a notification. If I click on "Get started" and go through all the steps in the process it appears to work, b...

This problem seems to affect many users, but we have scant information from DropBox as to what causes the issue or what efforts are being made to fix it. It doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

Hi , I finally found out how to remove "Ready For Update" of beta releases. It is simply, going to "Preferences". > General and clicking on "Leave Beta" ( if you were signed up for getting beta releases ). After that, the Dropbox icon in the Mac Menu bar no longer displays the warnings of Ready For update. Hope that helps you all...

I don't have the option. I'm not using the beta version. 😐

I have this issue too. Just migrated from iMac to new Mac Mini M2 running 13.2. Endlessly tells me that Dropbox for macOS is now ready, I go through the steps and it then logs me out of Dropbox, I log back in and it starts all over again telling me Dropbox for macOS is now ready.
Has anyone found an actual fix for this problem?

When I had this problem I was using my wife's M1 iMac while my old 2017 iMac was being repaired.
I'm now back to using the 2017 Intel Mac and I no longer have this problem.

Sorry to see you're having this issue, glenncogar.
Have you tried giving Dropbox full disk access on your computer, to see if that helps?
- glenncogar3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Yes, Dropbox has Full Disk Access
Does not seem to fix the problem
I’m guessing the issue has something to do with being on an Apple M2 architecture Mac Mini? - David F.613 years agoHelpful | Level 7
I ended up fixing it by completely uninstalling the Dropbox app and then reinstalling. Worth a try.
- glenncogar3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Thanks for your suggestion David … I was thinking of trying that but don’t want to have to resync content on my Mac with Dropbox cloud

I've also been having this problem since upgrading to the Apple Silicon native version. On MBP M2 w/ MacOS 13.2. I have not granted the app Full Disk Access because it should not have access to the full disk (otherwise this is a bug). I have gone through the update a few times and rebooted/power-cycled the computer multiple times. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

Hi all, thanks for your updates so far and happy Monday.
For anyone still affected by this, would it be OK if we reached out via email to have a further look internally?
- glenncogar3 years agoHelpful | Level 6Walter sure, what’s the best way of connecting via email without putting my email in a reply

Same problem here on Monterey for at least a month, probably multiple months. Interestingly, it happens on my wife's desktop but not on my own. Have reinstalled latest Dropbox, deleted preference files, run through the upgrade process multiple times, rebooted multiple times, etc. Have not yet resorted to our Book of Curses, but I will be cursing if Dropbox can't figure this out.

Hey glenncogar, I'd be reaching out to the email address that's connected to your profile here on our Community, if you don't mind that is.
As for you anonymous, could you clarify the desktop app's exact status and version as shown on the menu bar of the affected computer?
When it comes to your concern now BazHaze, you should be able to find the information you're looking for here.
- anonymous3 years ago
@Walter, app version is 167.4.4719. Not sure what you mean by status but the app is running and all files are up to date.
- BazHaze3 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Thanks, but granting file system access didn't get me out of the loop.
1) Is v167.4.4719 the correct version, or has the actual update failed?
2) If I check the "advanced" panel that shows up in the "update" process, it says it is putting my files in ~/Library/Dropbox, and NOT the new ~/Library/CloudStorage location. Given the failure I don't have faith that changing that is safe or effective, so I haven't tried it.
3) FYI: The page you sent me to "https://help.dropbox.com/sync/files-not-syncing#mac-disk-access" has instructions which are out of date for Ventura. I found the control for Full Disk Access and allowed Dropbox, but the page needs editing.
