Dropbox related icons on my local files, and cluttered web interface feedback.
Dropbox has become a bloated PoS. The product is terrible. Often files do not sync. Often it syncs files I do not want to be synced. Users have very little control over how the dropbox apps appear and work on their own devices. One major annoyance of mine is that the company INSISTS that the dropbox icon be pinned to the top of my file system's namespace. I do not want that **bleep** icon to appear first in my directory structure. But, you cannot delete it. I SO hate that. It is my computer, I am paying for a "service." I should have control over that. You can get rid of it temporarily, if you hack the registry but that can take hours and then it comes back at dropbox's discretion.
Now the web interface is cluttered with information I do not want. The worst is the "Suggested for you" banner at the top of the screen. It takes up way too much space. And I do not want dropbox's suggestions on anything. I want to make it go away forever. Not just hide it for the session. But you cannot do that.
All I want is a simple directory / file tree on line which I can manage exactly the way I do the files on my computer. So I can make new directories and write files there which later I can read. I would drop dropbox in a heartbeat, if there were such a cloud service available AND if I could transfer my files from dropbox directly to the new service. It takes a long time to download then re-upload more than a terabyte of data.
I welcome any suggestions for such a product.
The company, dropbox, is so very annoying with their presumptions of their importance that at some point soon I will reach the limit of my tolerance. Then I'll transfer the files even if it takes a couple of months to do it.

However, customer numbers continue to increase and, I think it speaks volumes that this thread had no other replies - even after 3 months of being open. Yes, it isnt perfect, but, nothing is.

Yes. I have a question. Does dropbox care at all -- really -- about its customer's opinions about it? Does it care at all the a large number of users hate the interfaces. I mean, good god, it would be difficult to actually create such junk and have it loosely hold together. I have uninstalled you interfaces altogether and use rclone to access my files. I have had it with your company. As soon as I find a simple cloud file system to use, you will be out of my life forever.

I have uninstalled dropbox from my computers and now use rclone to access my files. I hate the UI. I do not want "suggested for you". I do not want dropbox's insistence on putting its icon first on my file tree and making it impossible to remove. All I want is an online file store with a very simple interface. Dropbox is an arrogant and entitled company with clear incompetent programmers. As soon as I can get my files transferred out of here I am going to a different service.
