Dropbox Win10 App Not Loading
The Dropbox app is not starting with the computer, and when I double-click the icon in the Start menu nothing seems to happen. Checking with Task Manager, three processes do open, only to then close one after the other. Have tried uninstalling, but it fails. Restarting the computer has made no difference, and it is still listed in Startup Apps, and checked as 'on'.
It did occur to me my security software, Avast, might be interfering, not least since I had very similar issues with OpenOffice a short while ago that proved to be caused by the increasingly overzealous Avast blocking it. Even after turning off the latter, though, Dropbox still won't load. All suggestions greatly appreciated.
- I see, thanks for the update!
Can you try reinstalling the application (without uninstalling), to see if that helps?

Hey SkycladFox, welcome to our Community!
Can you please check the sync status of the Dropbox application, by hovering your mouse over the Dropbox icon in your system tray?

Neglected to mention: the icon doesn't appear in the system tray.

I am having the same issues as described here. Tried to install again without uninstalling but still end up with the same result.
I'm using Windows 11.
Any other options i should try?

Hey Daff - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Since a simple reinstall didn't help improve matters, you could try an advanced reinstall.
Just make sure that you don't have more than 3 devices connected to your account if you're on the Basic plan, as there's a device limit. - Daff4 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Hi Walter,
Thanks for the advanced reinstall instructions. Unfortunately after following it i still have the same issues.
Task manager is showing the following.
I currently only have 1 device shown in the devices list under security.
Cheers

Hi Daff, I hope you're doing well!
As a first step, could you please check if, by any chance, the app is being hindered or blocked by a third-party app, like a security app?
Could you also temporarily disable your antivirus and make sure that you've configured your firewall to work with Dropbox?
Let me know how it goes! - Daff4 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Hi Megan ,
I disabled both the anti-virus and firewall at the same time and tried to run Dropbox. Still having the same issue.
Cheers
Daff
