How Many Dropbox Folders Do I Even Have?

I have a work dropbox. I have been wanting to move everything from there to my personal dropbox. With everything in Finder just looking like "Dropbox," I never can remember which is which. So a couple of weeks ago I renamed my personal one from Dropbox to CatDropBox.

Only then it just made what looks like an extra one. Now I have 3 things showing as Dropboxes in my Finder.

They are not organized the same and they don't have the same things in them. I would like to get to a point where they all have the same things in them. That way, when I change computers next week, I will have everything in my own DropBox.

I just spent several evenings putting all of my work files in Dropbox into folders to make things easier to find. This was a few thousand documents.

The only Dropbox with the Dropbox symbol by it in Finder is my personal one that was not renamed. So it is just called Dropbox. Then there is one called CatDropBox that just has a folder symbol by it.  And then there is one that says Dropbox (Workplace) that also has a folder symbol by it.

Q. Are all 3 of these separate Dropboxes?

Q. What is the difference or relationship between the ones with the Dropbox symbol and the folder symbol?

Q. How can I get them to all have the same files and folders?

Q. Can you not just rename your Dropbox as something more personal?

Thank you

Hey catpainting136 - thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

It sounds like you're looking at 3 different Dropbox folders with only 2 of them currently syncing. The one you renamed must be a local copy of your Dropbox folder at the point you renamed it.

As for renaming your Dropbox folder, no, it's not currently possible to rename it.

At this point, I'd suggest copying or moving the files from all of the folders into the Dropbox folder that is syncing and let the desktop app sync your changes until it's up to date in your menu bar.

    I hope this helps!
