How to clear the Dropbox mobile app cache on iPhone/iPad?
Using an iPhone 5C running iOS 9.1 and Dropbox 4.0.4. The iOS Dropbox app itself is only 55.8 MB in size, however my iPhone is reporting that Dropbox is using a total of 300+ MB in Documents and Data...

Just noticed today that there's a new button in Dropbox settings saying Clear cache. So hopefully the problem is now resolved :-)

9 years agoHey Rich, you're right (regarding the issue with the cache button) & I understand that this has been affecting a subset of users (who'd rather avoid going through the uninstall/ re-install steps and may be inquiring about a different solution).
This is (of course) a temporary remedy that may help workaround the issue, while our team is investigating.
Once I have more info, I'll make sure to update this thread here on the progress of the matter.

Dropbox has made it to the top of the hit parade of apps using the most storage on my iPHONE. I have no files offline. And the Clear Cache button isn't working (as observed by other users in this community). Whilst your team is investigating the issue - I am investigating other cloud storage options. Because if I have to delete the app to release this storage I am deleting it for good. Fix this fast to save my subscription. Thanks T

I literally just bought Dropbox Plus to offload images on my iPhone to conserve space. iCloud does this automatically but I've used Dropbox before and liked it so I went with you guys.
I came here to solve this issue. Two years in and you haven't fixed it? That is not a good sign and I will have to end my subscription. Very dissapointing and quite perplexing why you would not make it a priority. It's literally the only reason I use Dropbox on every other device (offload media to conserve space).
