Lost Finder Integration in OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)
Hi,
since a few days it seems that I have lost the Finder-Integration in OS X 10.11.
Synchronization works fine, but I'm missing the Dropbox-Icon (in the sidebar the folder looks like a regular folder) and there is no status icon next to the files either (if the file is being synced, etc).
On my wifes computer (running 10.11) as well all works fine - I'm wondering if this has to do because I have the Pro-Account?!?!
I had the same issue and was able to get overlay icons back using by doing this:
- Completely uninstall Dropbox. I used Clean My Mac but you can do it manually using these instructions https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/41 Do everything in the 'For Advanced users' section.
- Do not move Dropbox folder to the trash
- Download and install latest version of Dropbox
- Re-login to Dropbox and if you had only certain folders selected to sync redo your Selective Sync settings.
- Save settings
- Relaunch Finder Option+Right Click Finder icon in Dock > Relaunch
Hope that helps.

@ Miguel M. - I had the same problem. I tried all methods above but no solution. In my case the issue was due to enabling the Finder integration for Google Drive. I uninstalled Google Drive and installed it again without enabling the Finder integration for it and Dropbox Finder integration started to work again.

Aucune des solution ne marchait, et puis j’ai décoché l’intégration finder de GoogleDrive et l’intégration finder de Dropbox fonctionne de nouveau..?

Functionally my Dropbox works. Right clicking on files gives me the appropriate Dropbox options like sharing and creating links. However I am missing the icons on the files that show the status of syncing. I really miss having this. I'm running a brand new MBP 15". This was a fresh install, not a restored backup from Time Machine or anything. Running 10.11.2.
Thanks,

Thanks JeanMi P! His solution (=workaround) worked for me too. I tried every single solution of this thread until now without success, but disabling Google Drive integration did the work, dropbox icons are back alive... Although I lost Google Drive Integration in the process :-(

Il semble que dropbox et Google drive ne sont pas compatible pour afficher les icônes d'état de synchronisation, mais la synchro elle se fait..!

Disabling Google Drive Finder Integration worked for me!
To disable, go to Google Drive>Preferences>Advanced and uncheck "Show file sync status icons and right click menu"
Note: Finder Integration will not work with symbolic links no matter what you do. You can still sync content from external drives and folders to Dropbox, but you will need to use the browser version of Dropbox to share files linked in this way.

I don't have Google Drive at all, still it doesn't work.

Hi!!
I did not tried anything with Google Drive, since I had uninstalled it weeks ago. I have installed it again, uncheck integration with Finder, and now dropbox integration is working again.
So something is happenning between Gdrive and dropbox.
Furthermore, once installed Google drive, there was a problem with gdrive folder and i had to synchro it again, meaning that maybe the previos uninstallation was not complete or well done.
Anyway, whoever who have this problem, can try to install and uninstall Gdrive, and see what happens.

I installed Google Drive as a test, and it doesn't have any finder integration, nor changes it icon to a "google drive" icon like the example shows either. I disabled and re-enabled it in Google Drive and it also doesn't show at all.
Now I'm starting to think this isn't a Dropbox specific issue, but rather an Apple issue. So now I'm screwed, because we don't have official Apple support here in South Africa, since Apple doesn't exist here (all sales through retailers).
