Mac "file provider" problem with flags

On iMac, Dropbox in "file provider" flags file.lyx~ as illegal.  But this is the standard form for a backup file in the excellent LyX LaTeX word processor.  BTW, this problem appears ONLY whenDropbox is used with  "file provider"
