My Recommendation is to hold off on the update, as this will affect your productivity

Good morning.
Running OS 13.2.1 on a silicon macbookpro.
Followed all the prompts to install the new version of Dropbox for Mac. 6 times now. Restarted in between several of them. Waited more than the four hours estimated install time on all of them. Have relogged in (when prompted) each time. I still have the little red badge on the dropbox icon and the message that Dropbox is ready to be installed.
I think I have a little red badge and a message for Dropbox ... but I'll save that for now.
Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Hi tucsonbil, happy Monday!
In regards to the prompt you keep getting about upgrading to the new Dropbox for Mac, would you kindly send us a screenshot of the prompt you keep receiving, in order for us to see it too?
Also, are there any firewalls or antivirus programs active on your device?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Thank you for your response.
See attached screen shot.
I have the Mac OS firewall settings on and AVAST security installed.

Hi tucsonbil, could you try temporarily disabling both the firewall and antivirus software to see if this helps with the upgrade of the Dropbox desktop application?

Jay:
Thank you for your suggestion ... I've done as you indicated and am now waiting on Dropbox to successfully install or loop back to the earlier condition. 3 hours 55 minutes to go. I'll circle back when I know more ...

Didn't take but 5 minutes. It didn't even finish indexing the files ... Back to square one.

I wonder if the solution here isn't to make sure all files are fully synchronized, quit out of it, uninstall Dropbox, and then just reinstall fresh to resync files. Not sure why but I wasn't having any issue with this... but I think I uninstalled Dropbox at one point since I was running the files on my local NAS which has a cloud sync feature (which is very useful) for Synology.
But I needed files for my laptop when I'm on the go that can't wait until I get home, so maybe this was a permissions issue where I gave it full disk access in Privacy settings in Settings for Mac Ventura. All these posts almost sound like the system can't access the folder but doesn't tell you that it can't except by just not installing the update and prompting you all the time.

I'll give it a try and see what happens ... Will report back with what I find.
Thank you.
