Stuck "Indexing..." on macOS 14.5. I've tried everything.
Even before an upgrade, I was stuck on either syncing or indexing endlessly. Currently my comp is just endlessly "indexing..." at the bottom of the app menu. I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times, this has been a problem now for over two weeks. I've logged out, I've tried "fix permissions" and "fix hardlinks" several times. I'm at the end of my rope; this is a company account and I'm missing work that is being updated by other artists because DB app won't sync! Please help, and thanks!

Sorry to hear that, @PROF_ROBOTICO. Can you share a few more details with us? We can try to help this way.
First off, please right click on your local Dropbox folder, go to Properties/Get info and send me a screenshot of what you see after that.
Other than that, I’d like to know the exact syncing status and app version of your Dropbox app.

My Dropbox version is v207.3.5611.

I am stuck at "Indexing..." as Sync Status.

A search here shows this is a chronic, repeated problem for years, yet still no sold solution. Hoping you can provide me a fix that won't force me to remove everything and start over.

• Turning off Sync and Backup to just let the indexer run. (2 days, no joy)
• Resetting hardlinks and permissions (No joy)
• Upgrading MacOS to 14.6.1 (23G93)
• Logging out of my account in the Preferences panel and logging in again.I always get just stuck in "Indexing" with no file totals showing. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks for the extra info, @PROF_ROBOTICO! I’m seeing a few things we can address together.
First off, v207.3.5611 is one of our beta/experimental builds. To make sure this isn’t causing any extra issues, I’d like you to go here and turn off early releases. After that, you can download the latest stable app. The app version you should be seeing should be 206.4.6506.
I also checked your screenshot, but it looks like your computer wasn’t done calculating the size of the Dropbox folder just yet. Can you follow the same steps and give it some more time?
I’m just trying to make sure your folder doesn’t contain more than 300k files, which could cause performance issues on the Dropbox app.

I turned off early releases but it downgraded to v205.4.5765 (and not 206.4.6506).
It has only 244.469 items, see screenshot. It is done counting.
