troubleshooting install of dropbox cloud storage on 2 macs. help!

Recently, I purchased a new MacBook Air running Ventura. Following the steps to update and migrate Dropbox to its new location went effortlessly.

HOWEVER, afterwards, when I went to do it on my main working computer an iMac. The upgrade migration got stuck, its been several hours.
Important background fact:
iMac had been running MacOs Big Sur (11.X) and I upgraded that to Ventura (13) prior to updating Dropbox.

Thoughts/questions:

  • Why won't it upgrade on the iMac?
  • Having two computers, does Dropbox have a predominant home on only one local computer that takes precedence. If so, I want that to be the iMac and not the MacBook.
  • Will I have to take any special steps (such as uninstall and reinstall from the local computers) to make sure it happens on my iMac first then redo the MacBook, sync or not sync for online and offline access?

If someone could weigh in quickly, that'd be great.
Thanks

Attached is screenshot of where install on iMac got stuck.

  • Thank you Walter.

I actually had found a "sync" request window that needed to be responded to hidden behind som other open windows.

Dropbox appears synced to both computers now.

This is not quite a question.
Before moving my main backup drive's files to Dropbox, I am strategizing carefully and investigating the online and available off-line features to simplify and centralize especially my Photo archive [that in its entirety doesn't belong on any of my working computers but will be great to have accessible online [for when I need to reference something really old but am not at home.]

Best and thank you for your response.

Hey shelley241, sorry to hear about this.

As you may have noticed, following a migration to the new Dropbox for macOS, your files need to be re-synced and depending on the amount of files you have in your Dropbox, this may take some time to complete.

There are some things you can check to ensure that the migration and the re-sync is still progressing and not stuck.

    1. Click on the Dropbox icon in the menu bar
    2. Take a note of the time and the number of files that are currently syncing, this will be displayed at the bottom of the window that appears.
    3. Allow some time to elapse, repeat step 2. If the number of files that are syncing has reduced then it may be worth waiting a little longer to see if the syncing completes.

If the number of files has not reduced it might be worth checking out the troubleshooting steps outlined in this article . Note that we do not recommend re-installing the application if the migration is still in progress.

If none of the above helps please let me know and I can investigate further.
