Windows computer freezes in startup with latest update of Dropbox.

The latest update of Dropbox installed on my computer on 2/10.  When I then tried to start the computer on 2/12, it kept freezing on starting Dropbox.  I had to go into Safe Mode (Windows 7 computer -- and I am NOT updating it; had SERIOUS issues with Windows 10 on another computer) to uninstall it and I've had no issues since.

Hi Virginia C. W., thanks for posting here today!

Is the app installed on the device at the moment, or not?

Also, can you check one thing for me?

This particular version of the Windows OS (Windows 7) needs the security update KB3033929 for the Dropbox desktop app to work properly. Is it possible that you don't have this update?

I'll be waiting for your update!

No, I uninstalled it yesterday.  There's an extremely long list of updates, so it's hard to find a particular one in the list.  If you know an approximate date for it, I'll look in the list in that date area.  As far as I know I am fully up to date -- I last checked for updates on 1/4/2024 and installed Security Intelligence Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB915597 (Version 1.403.1630.0) on that date.

Hey Virginia C. W., unfortunately I don't know the precise date of the security update.

Have you tried installing the app ever since, and if so what were the results?

Did you come across any issues?
