Unable to open Excel files on Android Dropbox mobile app - Office login loop
Hi, I have a free dropbox account and have used it for years to store a few basic excel spreadsheets that I use daily. I have a paid Microsoft 365 account that I use on my android phone and lenovo laptop. For some reason the last few days, I am unable to open my dropbox excel spreadsheets on my phone. When I try to open the spreadsheet I get a log in page saying "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration". I log in using my dropbox user and pw and it just sends me to my onedrive. I have tried deleting the dropbox and 365 apps on my phone and re installing and logging in. I have tried to open the dropbox files by going into excel first and then trying to open the dropbox spreadsheet. Just always sends me to the log in page.
It all works fine on my laptop, and after saving, my dropbox android app shows the newly updated spreadsheet. Dont know what has happened. Please help.

So after all of this and after all this back and forth, Dropbox support has failed to inform everyone here that it's a known problem and they're working on it. I don't know why they wouldn't have just said this from the very beginning instead of asking everyone to repeat the same circular questions that get them no further along than they already are with this issue... Here's an email directly from their support team:
Hello,
Thank you for your reply, and I appreciate your patience as we work through this together.
Dropbox engineers are aware of the problem and are working on a solution however this is a know issue in within Microsoft as they tend to break this functionality somewhat regularly
Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

hey, i have the same issue for the last few month on a galaxy s23 with both business and privet accounts. Never had this issue before, and no fixes worked so far.

Solved. Moved my spreadsheets over to onedrive.

Super annoying. Have tried all the suggestions in this thread and nothing seems to work. Just goes in circles and same result. I have been accessing my dropbox excel files by opening the excel app, hitting the "open" in the bottom right corner, selecting "browse", which then lists my dropbox files, selecting the file I want to use but its a read only so I have to save a copy, edit it, then later go into dropbox and delete the old version. What a pain in the ass.

Started on new pixel 9 device. Was working perfectly on my old pixel 6 1 week ago. Exact same issue as the OP.

I'm having the same issue. Adding Dropbox doesn't work. Signing out, clearing cache, deleting all apps makes no difference. How can this be fixed?

Hi Dropbox support, I have cleared the cache, uninstalled the app but still have the same issue. Is there a solution to this proble?

Had similar issue for months. Dropbox links to Word ok but not Excel. Issue in on tablet and phone. I did find Dropbox Beta will link with Excel, but these are different file copies to normal Dropbox folders.

The problem is in Excel. Open Excel mobile app. In settings, go to connected services. Add a service and select DropBox. Log in using your DropBox user name and password. This will connect your Excel to your DropBox account. They you should be able to open excel files from DropBox.

Hi guys, i was able to solve this stupid problem by opening excel app > open other workbooks >Add a place > Dropbox
Hope this helps- Tanner2208Explorer | Level 4
Hi Folks, elsahhar666 (e666) had a point. It helped me figure out to solve this stupid problem also. Similar to e666 did, open excel app > "open" folder > Browse (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) > select Dropbox...., then go open your excel file...it'll open the darn excel file.

Only works if Dropbox is connected already. The problem we're all having is that DB is not connected.

I've been doing this plenty of times already but it doesn't help.
