Welcome to the Community, Bloodstar!
Just to clarify, you had upgraded your Dropbox account directly via www.dropbox.com, and not iTunes/Google Play, right?
Have you checked this relevant Help Center article? Do you still not see the “Cancel plan” option, even on this page?
If not, I’d like you to tell me what’s the current plan you see there.
Ping me, when you’ve got more updates.
- Bloodstar2 years agoExplorer | Level 4Hello Megan,
I didn't upgrade anything. I have this basic subscription and I want to cancel it and I don't want to be charged 12$ on my credit card. This is 1 month free period but I have right as a CUSTOMER to cancel it at ANY TIME.
There is no option to cancel it so you are just playing tricks with CUSTOMERS!!! That's shameful and lousy business practice if you ask me. I will inform European Union on this and then we will see. Have a nice day!!! - Rich2 years ago

The Basic plan is free and doesn't have a subscription, which is likely the reason you're having a problem cancelling. There's no subscription to cancel for a Basic plan.
Did you perhaps start a free trial while on the Basic plan? If so you can follow these steps to cancel it.
Or, if you're on Basic and are already being charged, then you're being charged for a different account. Use the credit card charge lookup tool to identify the account that you're being charged for.

Certanly there is some confusion there but I didn'tbrought that. I use computers since Commodore 64 and Amiga days so it is not that I cannot or don't know to handle this.
I imagine for example some older people must go through to cancel subscriotion - through this 9th circle of hell - of User Intuity and interface frendliness.
For instance - I cannot for the love of the Gods find where is cancel button here or on Google Play.
Maybe is hiding among Stars in Milky Way - but certanly I cannot call this user friendly gui or Interface.
That was purposely done to trick customers - lousy, unethical business practice that I hate, despise it.
There is nothing worse than this in interaction with the Customer.
And Customer is The King.
When I put my Credit Card details it clearly SAY - there is 1 month FREE period and then we will charge your credit card BUT you may cancel it at ANY TIME.
For God Sake - I cannot find Cancel button.
Please DropBox - don't act like Desperados - cancel MY subscription NOW.
Thank you! - Walter2 years ago

Hey Bloodstar, sorry to jump in here, but I wanted to mention that it sounds like you're looking at an account that's on the free, Basic plan. This is why you're not seeing an option to cancel it in your account's settings.
Can you have a look at your plan tab and confirm if that's the case?
Also, can you send us a screenshot of where you see the 'one month free trial' mention?

I am on Android.
When I took this "suvscription" it clearly says this : First month free and then 12 $ monthly UNLESS canceled.
Now, of course always is a User fault - never it is a Company fault.
What if I do get charged and it is supposed to be free as you say?
Another tricked customer then?
I really don't like this business practice at all.
I am going tomorrow to my bank to see for myself and to tell them what kind if problems I have.
I will inform European Union about this shoddy business toward customers.
And I am journalist - if you want to rob me out of my money without my consent - I swear - it will not go that way!
I am taking my business elsewhere, Thank You.
And many people will know what is here all about. This is simply unacceptable.
DropBox is shooting himself in the foot and Word of Mouth is best advertising.
Forcing customers to stay will only allienate them.
And simply - just use your logic - don't confuse your customers - that is crazy enough. Thank you
