Misuse or mistake using my email address
I'm not "daskip". I might've had a dropbox account with one of my email addresses. Recently I got emails in French saying that a user named "daskip" registered an account with dropbox using my email address. It's difficult to understand. I could reset the password using my email address. It should not be possible.

@Walter
Honestly, I can't remember if I did it right after receiving that French email in October, but changed my password 2 days ago.
As for the security side, I don't see any unidentified sessions, just my device. Does this mean that this daskip hasn't succeeded to log into my account? But if so, how he changed my name into "daskip"?
Best,

Hey MarcinM and happy Friday! I'm jumping in here as well.
Do you still have that email you received? Can you check where it came from?
Was it one of the official domains that Dropbox uses or does it look like a phishing email?
Also, is your account name still 'daskip'? Can you check your account settings for that?

It was a pro account.

Hi Hannah
Yes, I still have this email. I received it on October 25, 2021.
Email came from no-reply@dropbox.com
Until yesterday I still had the name "daskip", but I have already changed it. To be clear, I still have access to this account 🙂
What interests me is whether this daskip had access to the files and was able to copy them.

Thanks for the additional info, MarcinM!
The domain you see looks like an official Dropbox domain, indeed.
However, would you mind sending over a full screenshot of the message you received?
Just so that we can have a clearer image of what may have happened.

Hey MarcinM, thanks for the screenshot!
Since the message isn't in English, would you care to give me a translation of what it says there?

Sure:
Title: Confirm your email address with Dropbox
Hello daskip,
To finalize your registration, we only have to validate the e-mail address of your account.
Validate your email address
Enjoy Dropbox!
I quess this "daskip" entered my account, tried to change my password and then this message was sent to me to confirm new password. As I wrote before, I don't remember if I did it or not, but now I have this account under control. I just want to know how it happened and what damages have been done.

I also received a similar message in my email a while ago. It seems like somebody entered my email to register an account.
Now I'd like to use Dropbox, and my questions are:
- What it's all about?
- Is it possible to remove the account and register the new one on the same email? And how safe is it?
A few similar support topics are floating around, but this one seems to be the most active, so I post it here.

Hi x2x6
Easiest way to do this is simply get a password reset from www.dropbox.com/forgot for the email, log on and delete either the whole account and start a fresh (use this is you want to move the email to the account you have set up to post here), or all data in it and just use as is.
