Space after downgrade

I want to downgrade/Cancel my account to basic. I see that a basic account has 2G but when I try to cancel it says I will only have 8.25GB.

"Remember that after downgrading to Dropbox Basic, your account will go from 3.01 TB to 8.25 GB of space (plus any bonus space earned previously)."

I searched and found this message that says 2GB so why am I getting the above message?

You must have bonus referral space on your account 🙂

2gb is the very basic amount you get - it is possible to earn more than that though

The free Basic plan starts with 2GB but you can earn more through referrals and other bonus programs. You must have some bonus space on your account, so instead of going down to 2GB you'll have 8.25GB when you downgrade.
