Free team disbanded by Dropbox
Hi Team,
Can someone please help with an email I received as below? Not sure what it all means
The ???? Limited team has been disbanded by Dropbox. Your team’s folders have been converted to shared folders, and all ??? Limited groups have been deleted. Your account has been converted to a personal Dropbox plan.
Reason I ask is that we had a colleague that left our company under bad terms.
Many thanks in advance.

Its an account you set up - only you can manually link the accounts together and to do that you would have needed both credentials to do it.
So you need to use the log on email and password you created yourself.

Apologie I was being stupid. I realised the 'Team Disbanded' email was relating to a separate email address which I created for the Project. Thanks for being patient with me, it's fixed now. - Coastal_Living4 years agoExplorer | Level 4
At DB's suggestion a few years ago, I established a Shared Team account. Which has now been automatically disbanded. The email said it would be automatically converted to Basic/Personal, and this morning I had email that it was reaching capacity. I already have a personal account, so am I able to have two personal accounts now? Or is my only option to either pay an upgrade, or... dl all my 'Shared Team' files for safekeeping? I can't see a way to continue to sync to this folder/account. Also, the Shared Team folder has disappeared from my desktop/finder. I've already lost too much time trying to sort this out today, and I appreciate any help with this. Thanks. 🙂

Hey Coastal_Living, thanks for posting here!
It seems you're referring to the end of support for free teams.
If your account is full, then you'd need additional space in order to continue syncing. However, you should still have access to your content.
As for pairing two Dropbox accounts, one would need to be a personal one, and the other one would need to be a paid Business one, in order for this to happen.
If you have any questions, let me know.

@Megan, Thanks for your response. 🙂
So I reduced the files for the Shared Team acct (STA) so I'm well under the limit now. I did this web-based.However... if I understand, there's no way for me to sync the STA from my DT to DB unless I change it to a paid Business account? Since that would require me to pair the accounts?
TIA. 🙂

Got this email. I wasn't the one that set this up. Cannot risk losing all files in this dropbox..I have no idea what I need to do?
Does anyone know.

Hi Coastal_Living, hope you don’t mind me jumping in.
If your desktop app is currently linked to your personal account, and you’d like to have both syncing at the same time, then you’d need to upgrade to a paid Business plan indeed, like you mention.
You can check more details here, too.
Another option would be to log out of your personal account on your desktop app, and sign back in with the credentials of your previous business team instead.
Hope this helps!

My accounts were unlinked without notice and I've lost access to my work files. The password for my work account no longer works and the recover password feature is not sending me an email. This is frustrating as I've not received any communication that this was going to happen and now I can't even log in and get my work files.
How can I log into the account and at the very least transfer my important work files to the account I can access?

Thanks, @ Nancy, that clarifies things for me. 🙂 Cheers!

Up until now I've always been able to switch between my personal and my school account as they were linked. Yesterday my school one disappeared and I can't link them back to each other anymore, I have tried clicking the "link accounts" button but when I put in the details it comes up with a red error saying "sign into a team account" (I have the passwords correct too).
If i sign in through a browser or through the app I can sign into each account individually but I can't access them both at the same time and switch between anymore like I previously have always been able to. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know how to fix this?
