I am locked out of an account I started with a defunct email address that is on autopay
[removed] Dropbox, how do I recover an account that I am still paying for with a defunct e-mail address? Your screen asks questions for which I cannot remember answers to. I can show you my bank statements, if I could just talk to someone.

Without that information you likely won't be able to recover the account. You need to maintain an active email address on your account so you can receive password resets and the one-time security codes used during sign in.

That likely wouldn't matter. They're pretty strict about account access, and being able to provide a bank statement isn't really proof that it's your account.
However, they will help you cancel the subscription so there are no further charges to your account. You just need to contact Support and they'll assist you.
Visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.
