Someone has asked me for access to my Dropbox account. Am I getting hacked?

I need to know what to do because someone has asked me for access to my Dropbox account, but I don't know who it is, and what's more, he's from another country. He has left a comment in a file "a.png" saying "hi". They are two users with these names: removed. Please can you tell me if my account has been compromised. So far I have changed the password, and I have not opened the files with the notification.
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi dori-eimos, welcome to our Community!

You mentioned that someone asked you for access to your Dropbox account, and also said that you saw a comment on one of your files.

Would you mind clarifying how they asked you for access, and if the file you're talking about is a shared one, by any chance?

In the meantime, if you have any doubts and believe your account might have been compromised, feel free to check this Help Center article.

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

    Hi Megan,

Thank you very much for your reply. I'll tell you in detail the situation.

I received an email notification from someone who left a comment on a file. I have searched for that file in my "Dropbox" and "Paper" through the search engine of the platform, and it does not appear. The file is strange, it is a png, and its name is: "a.png". In that file, the two people (or bots) left me a message. The message was: "hi".

Attached is a screenshot of the message that I received.

Thank you very much for your help Megan.

Hey dori-eimos, thanks for the added info!

That is indeed odd. Would you mind clarifying the email address that this email came from?

Was it from an official Dropbox domain of ours?

    Hi Megan,

    Thanks for you reply.

I attach a screenshot where you can see that the domain is from Dropbox.

    Thanks,

Hey dori-eimos, thank you for reaching back, I hope you enjoyed your weekend!

If you check your shared files page, is it possible that you can find the file there?

I'm asking because the email seems legitimate.

    Hi Megan,

Thank you very much for you quick answer.

It looks like a legitimate message, but I don't know these people, they are from a foreign country, and in my shared files page there is no such file. I have not dared to open the message because it is very suspicious.

I just want to know if this means that suspicious people or bots have been able to get into my files and dropbox space. And if so, what should I do.

    Thanks for your help.

Hey dori-eimos, we'll get to the bottom of this.

At the moment, I'm trying to figure out where this file is located, and how it ended up on your account.

If you use our search bar online, and look for the precise file name, are you able to locate it?
