This beta update worked for me if I enabled Compatibility settings set to Win 7. I have not tried Win 8. (I'm running Win 11 Pro). I was able to get all of my files synced and app is now running and stable. Hooray!

Please note, some user's may run into the following issues with the new release.
Here is what to do if you notice the following:- Relying on compatibility mode to run Dropbox, but being locked out by a Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 EoS dialog.
- ‼️Customers that do not rely on compatibility mode for a functioning dropbox should not follow this mitigation procedure. ‼️
- Install Dropbox:
- After installing Dropbox, you may see a popup. If you do:
- If you see the popup:
Click “Continue in compatibility mode.” You will also see a message saying that Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 is not supported. You can ignore this warning and click “Ok.” - If you don't see the popup and are experiencing issues (like "network connecting" or "sync not working"):
- Follow the steps below to enable compatibility mode for Dropbox:
- Enable Compatibility Mode:
- Exit Dropbox Completely:
- Make sure Dropbox is fully closed by quitting the application.
- Find Dropbox Executable:
- Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe and right-click on the Dropbox executable. Select “Properties.”
- Change Compatibility Settings:
- In the “Properties” window, click on the “Compatibility” tab.
- Set compatibility mode to an older version of Windows. Start with Windows 8, and if that doesn't work, try Windows 7. Older versions may not work.
- Restart Dropbox:
- After changing the settings, start Dropbox again and follow the earlier instructions (step 1).
- Exit Dropbox Completely:
