Thanks for using Dropbox! The desktop client is regularly updated with many fixes including the following:
Fixed in this update:
- Fixed an issue preventing users from sharing or copying links while syncing is paused.
- Fixed an issue on macOS where Dropbox incorrectly asked for unnecessary permissions when saving files in certain apps.
- Removed the cancel button from the error dialog for file relocation issues.

Auto-update to this version has:
- Changed Selected Sync folder location by adding User Account name to the File Path
- Changed the name of the root directory.
- forced re-index loop error and is not syncing.
- reset all user Selective Sync settings to full DB.
- reset all Offline/Online status.
- Updated without notice, and then notified of errors due to files being in use after update.
Disable Auto updates needs to be added to preferences to avoid poor timing of updates, with the user retaining control over their computer not just what DB thinks should happen.
This was already a poor offering just made even worse.

"Disable Auto updates needs to be added to preferences"
I know Dropbox have been consistently averse to this but it would certainly help if you were available to delay things.
