Hi,
Since a few days, the files added by my colleagues in a shared folder don't show up in the Finder, unless I click the Dropbox icon in the menu bar and then the file name in the file list. It then immediately appears in the Finder...
Anyone having the same problem? Any idea how to fix it?
Thanks

Ed Hey Christophe,
Do you see the files on dropbox.com?
-
Christophe H. Hi Ed,
Yes. I just ran a test: the file was synced 35 minutes ago, appeared on dropbox.com instantly, but is still invisible in the Finder.
-
Ed Thanks Christophe - could you try updating your Dropbox client (https://www.dropbox.com/release_notes) and Yosemite to v2.10.52?
update: uninstall your Dropbox first, then you download the latest version to install it again.
-
Christophe H. Ed,
I'm already running v2.10.52 (I should have mentioned it). -
Ed Alright - thanks Christophe.
The Finder integration issue only affects Mac devices running OS X 10.10.0 (Yosemite). This does not affect users running OS X version 10.9.5 or lower. To fix this issue, Apple has released OS X Update 10.10.1.
Could you please check if you're using this version? To see which version you're running, follow these steps:
- Click on the Apple in the upper left corner of your screen.
- Choose About this Mac.
- Look for the Version.
If you're not on the 10.10.1, you can get this update for free in the Mac App Store.
(Details on how to update your device are available on Apple's support site: https://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/)
Hope this helps!

Christophe H. Hello Ed,
Yes, I'm currently running Mac OS 10.10.1.
-
Christophe H. Hi,
Any other idea?
Am I the only one reporting this issue?
Thanks. -
N. Y. I have the exact problem. On computer A, I deleted a few files and added a few new ones. On computer B, I still see the deleted files (although without the Dropbox checkmark icon. And I don't see the new files till I click the filename in the Dropbox app. Then, the file magically appears. I'm on 10.10.1 and I uninstalled and reinstalled Dropbox as suggested here. That didn't help.

Christophe H. Hi,
I upgraded to Dropbox 3.0.3 and it seems that the issue was fixed in the process. -
Ghost D. We have the same problem on a Mac updated to the latest version of Yosemite. It appears that the finder isn't updating consistently. v3.0.4 seemed to fix the issue at first but the problem is still there. Very annoying. Are you still having problems?
-
Christophe H. Same with 3.0.3: I thought it had fixed the problem at first, but it happened again today.
Apparently, upgrading to 3.0.4 won't do the trick...
:-( -
Matthew T. I'm getting the same issue outside of Dropbox so it's likely unrelated.
My new files don't show up in Finder(such as something saved from Safari or printed as a PDF). They do show up in Terminal. If I do a spotlight search for the file, the file is found and suddenly appears in the Finder window as well, but not until I do that.
-
Ian A. I'm getting this problem too
-
Igor D. I have the same problem too (Yosemite 10.10.1, Dropbox 3.0.3)
-
MTOOLS D. Fuck! I have the same problem too (Yosemite 10.10.1, Dropbox 3.0.3)
-
Helen E. I am having the same issue. I am on Dropbox 3.0.5 and Yosemite 10.10.1. I can see files when I use Adobe Bridge but not in the Finder. This is very frustrating.

Hermann S. Workaround to make your own "Refresh" button:
Create AppleScript, save as "App"
tell application "Finder" to tell front window to update every itemFind File where you saved it in Finder, Command-Drag to Finder Toolbar area.

Tim M. My husband and I are having the same problem here too. They don't show up until after I do a search for that file and then open it. So annoying.
-
Stratton T. I am having the same problem. I'm running OS X 10.10.2, have the most up to date version of dropbox. I am able to see from the dropbox icon that the new file was added, and I'm able to see them when I look through folders from the dock, however through finder they don't exist at all. Other macs at work with prior versions are not having this problem.
Any fixes yet?

Jan M. I have been having this problem for several weeks! Running the latest Yosemite and Dropbox. If I do a spotlight search, it finds the file even though it is not showing in Finder. Very frustrating and slows me down when trying to attach files to email or confirm files are in shared dropbox folder.
-
Jan M. I just read this page and ran the bad file check. https://www.dropbox.com/help/145 . Then I deleted or edited all the bad file names, restarted computer and added a test file to Dropbox. The file showed up in the Finder immediately. Hope this continues...

Charlie T. Hi Guys,
Add a new folder then immediately delete; This forces a re-sync and seems to fix this every time for me.
Good luck! :)
-
Sam Z. Just adding a "me too" to this issue. Running Mac OS v10.10.2 and Dropbox client v3.2.6.
-
Luis G. Hi,
Runing mkdir ${TMPDIR}/com.apple.IconServices in a terminal window (Applications / Utilities / Terminal) and relaunching the finder solved the problem.
To relaunch:1. Hold the Option key and right-click the Finder icon in the Dock, then select Relaunch. 2. Press Option-Command-Escape or choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, then select the Finder and click Relaunch. -
Veronica E. I have the same problem on both of my computers, iMac and MacBook Pro. Both are running OS X 10.10.2 with Dropbox 3.2.6. This is annoying...
-
Tommaso R. Same here... it's now a few months - at least since November - I have this problem too. Yosemite 10.10.2 and Dropbox v3.2.6.
I'm sharing a folder with a colleague, and have to ask him to mail me every time he adds something or I have no clue wether he did or not. I tried all the "fixes" suggested here but nothing cleared the issue once and for all: and sure, relaunching the finder makes the files appear, but that is neither a convenient nor an efficient solution! Looking forward to a permanent solution! -
Alex S. Having this problem too, it's definitely a Dropbox issue because I can move the folder elsewhere and it works as expected.
Dropbox 3.2.6

Luis G. Hi,
Runing mkdir ${TMPDIR}/com.apple.IconServices in a terminal window (Applications / Utilities / Terminal) and relaunching the finder solved the problem.
To relaunch:
1. Hold the Option key and right-click the Finder icon in the Dock, then select Relaunch.
2. Press Option-Command-Escape or choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, then select the Finder and click Relaunch.I think it is not a Dropbox problem. Please answer if those steps that I wrote worked for you too.
Yosemite 10.10.2
DropBox 3.2.6 -
George H. Same problem here on Yosemite 10.10.2 and Dropbox 3.2.6
I can see the files from the terminal and restarting the Finder as described above fixes the problem
-
Greig D. Same problem on 10.10.2 and Dropbox 3.2.6. As above, relaunching the finder makes the files visible, or makes the deleted files disappear. The problem persists after this for any subsequently added/deleted files.
