I want to put some text to identify what the images are. For instance, I uploaded an 8 mg file of a horse that won the Canadian Olympics. I'm sharing these images with a designer that is working on a book across the country from me. We don't speak on the phone regularly so she needs to be able to identify the who, when, what of each of these. Using the image file name only identifies which chapter and a basic abbreviated description. IS THERE ANYWAY TO ADD TEXT /descriptor to images in dropbox?

There is not a way to add description to individual images as far as I know, probably the easiest way would be to add a small text file that referenced the file name and then the information about the image?

How do we make this a feature request. Seems like a no-brainer especially with the addition of Carousel!

Hoping the Carousel team is reading this, my search for "captions" turned up a whole page of people asking for this. Are there plans to implement?
A request, when and if you do: there is this (horrible, IMO) trend these days to have captions show up over images (in semi-transparent boxes, or appearing then fading) ... please, please just do what has worked for more than a century, and put the caption under the photo. I find it totally annoying to have framed a photo and then have some element of the UI blocking part of it.
Just my .02. I love Dropbox/Carousel's simple "it's private but you can share a link with anyone" philosophy. Add captions and this will win hands down over other ways I've shared photos in the past (e.g. Flickr.)
Thanks for your consideration.

I also need a captions facility and feel this would be a valuable addition to Dropbox's utility. Be nice to have an official reply from Dropbox to say if they're considering this for the future - or not.

@Alex I just received an e-mail stating Dropbox is retiring Carousel so probably a good idea to look elsewhere for your photo sharing solutions. Good luck!

OK, thanks for responding. Feels like there may be a gap in the market...

Are photo captions viewable with Dropbox?

Hey there (mob2), while you can currently add informative captions on your Dropbox Showcases & on attached media previews within a Dropbox Paper doc, there isn’t currently a way to create photo captions on image previews on Dropbox online. If you don’t mind me asking, can you elaborate a bit on what would be the ideal end-result, in order to further address your initial inquiry? Thanks in advance & happy Friday!- mob2Explorer | Level 4
Hi Jane, thanks for your response but I don't want to copy/paste captions for 50-100 photos in the files preview in Dropbox paper when the caption is already embedded in Photoshop's file info of the picture.
I would think your coders could set up a caption field using the caption already embeded in the file info of the picture.(?)
Thanks, mob2

Uhm, I'm surprised that this idea has received only 2 votes, including mine. How does everyone add description to a photo? Using the comment section?
