One month down in 2025: How are your resolutions coming along? Check out how to get back on track here.
Have been working out how to make the iPad Dropbox experience amazing for a business client who now has equipped the on site team with Managed iPads.
Via the DropBox app, for example Numbers spreadsheets can be previewed. However, the next step to opening the document in the native Apple Numbers app on iPad is clumsy.
Unlike Word documents, there is no immediate Open option to open in the native app, Numbers. The pop up menu at the bottom right doesn't know about Numbers.
You can use the share sheet to enable exporting the document out to Numbers. However, this creates a local file on the iPad and doesn't write back to the Dropbox folder.
There's a similar challenge for opening Word documents on an iPad that only has Pages installed.
There seems to be a work around if you set up Dropbox in the iPad Files app.
So the fundamental request is to be able to open any of the iWork documents easily on an iPad. It should be simply open and the native app opens and saves in place.
