As described in this thread, the new version of dropbox backup is great but has a major downside: files stored via backups can no longer be accessed within the dropbox app!
Quoting @mbriney from the above-linked thread because I can't say it any better:
I understand the principle of having the major "backups" be in a different segment of dropbox.. but it shouldn't be that hard to access all the files. Maybe inside the regular current Dropbox app, feature a button that allows up to actually open the files that are in this "backups" section? OR maybe create another "Dropbox Backups" app that will allow us to remotely view these backup files without having to go thru the browser?

I was so surprised when I realised this key feature was gone. It makes no sense for the users, is there even a 'workaround' that could help?
I am left with no other option than thinking about switching to other services...

This is really a function I would expect to have.
I love the ability to backup my USB drive, where I have all my photos archived.
I used to use Boxify, but prefer the new Dropbox backup capability.
I can search through these photos on the website. But would like to view them in the app as well.
Please add me to the list of users who need this ability.
Thanks, Paul

Hello Walter, I think there is some confusion around this idea/requested feature. The tags and the original poster are talking about the "mobile app", while most of the comments are about the desktop app. Was the "NOT RIGHT NOW" staff decision about the mobile app, or the desktop app?
In other words, most of us here seems to wish to be able to see and browse backup files from PC-1 on PC-2 for instance, like we used to do with the previous version of Dropbox Backup. Now, the only way to browse backup-ed files is on the web only, at the URL https://www.dropbox.com/backup/all
Thank you in advance for confirming,

After searching a lot I find that Goodsync.com is the perfect solution. Constant backup to your dropbox!

Even the Dropbox Marketing Team knows that access to backups is a good idea!
1) They advertise that feature in pre-sales for upgrades.
2) Once you upgrade and install on Windows, they send you "helpful" links to tell you how to use the App to access Backups. But the App doesn't even include a link to click to the backups in a browser.
Dropbox Backup welcome email directs users to the App

Also, why is not possible to share a link from the backup??

Can’t believe this isn’t already possible.
It’s so excruciatingly annoying not to be able to access all your content in one place. PLEASE sort this ASAP.
